Can we cope? What if she cries, what do I do? Is everything ok? and bla bla bla.

The first night turns out ok and so is the second night but the following days were bit horrifying. Angela couldn't stop crying and both my hubby and my mom were so busy pacifying her to make her go to sleep. I was too tired to muster any energy to take care of her and I just lay there on my bed feeling helpless. Turns out, my little one had some discomfort at the gums. After being treated by the doctor, she is like an angel now.

Still , the mid-night shift is my hubby's job and I must say, he is doing a greater job than I am. He wakes up whenever the baby cries, prepares the milk, feed her, burp her and lull her to sleep. Awww... I feel so proud to have such a supportive hubby. Besides taking care of his little baby, he also has to take care of his BIG baby, ME! keke.

My hubby, Bat-Erdene, I am so so proud of you for being such a wonderful daddy. Thanks for the encouragements and support you have given me so far. Makes me feel stronger day by day. A first for them and I can see that they are really happy beyond words. My mom helped me to take care of Angela whilst my dad would come into my room a few times a day to have a look at his grandchild. It was really a heart-warming moment to see these adoring grandparents playing with their grandchild but which also bring tears to my eyes.

Knowing that I would be leaving Malaysia in a few months' time, I pity my parents having to let go of their grandchild and probably won't be able to witness her growing process. I feel bad for doing this to them but living in Mongolia is a path I chose for myself.

One day, my daddy came into the room and looked at Angela. He said ,"Little princess. Look at you. But too bad you would have to leave us in a few months' time." He then turned and spoke to me ;" Leave her here.hehe" Although he said it jokingly, I couldn't forget what he said and everytime I think bout it, I just cry. Sometimes I think I'm really cruel for doing this to them but I had to choose where I would like to settle down. Where it is best for my baby and for my hubby. It's not just me now and I hope that they can understand my decision.

Here comes our princess

25.10.2011 marks the day my hubby, Bat-Erdene and myself stepped foot into the world of parenthood. Our baby, Angela Bat-Erdene was born at 0518am weighing 3.4kg. The labor didn't last long but it took away all the strength that I had. When the mid-wife put her on my chest, I could only look at her and smile. I could barely move my hands to even touch her then the mid-wife took her away to clean up and I fell asleep again.

Having inhaled too much entonox during episiotomy made me so groggy up till noon that day that I couldn't even take care of my baby. Even when the nurses came to my bed to check on me, they all asked the same question, Ok ke tak budak ni? (Is this girl ok?)

but by noon, I was much stronger and when my hubby and mom came to see me, I was well enough to talk to them and have a real look at my baby,

The feeling of holding her in my arms was overwhelming. I think it was the same too for my mom and my hubby. Looking at her sleeping peacefully brought tears to my eyes and made me wonder, how in the world did this miracle happen? It is a magical moment indeed.

Bad day

09.10.11 should be a very nice date yeah? Unfortunately, I was hospitalised! Nope, not because I have popped! But because diarrhea and vomiting!! Was in the hospital for 2 days and those 2 days has been agonising for me.

The first day was the worst! I waited in the emergency for 3.5hours although I pleaded with the nurses to let me have a go first cos I kept running to the toilet every 15mins and the toilet is situated quite far! When it was my turn to see the doctor, I practically have not much energy left to even sit straight. My tummy felt pain but I already couldn't differentiate if it's just mere tummyache or contractions. The doctor was afraid that I was actually having contractions, asked me to be sent to the maternity ward with an ambulance!

I was sent to the labor ward and I was all alone. My mom couldn't come in with me, I couldn't bring my mobile with me nor any money. Just myself. Never felt so alone in my life. CTG machine on my right and drip on my left, I couldn't get up from the bed to even do my 'business'. I was given the 'can' to sit on and do it there. I was there for 2hours and watching the clock ticking by was enough to make me cry. Finally, they found that I was not ready to go in-labour, they transfered me to the antenatal ward. How happy I was to be off the CTG machine and first thing I did was run to the toilet! What a horrible experience!

Having said that however, I did learn something from those mothers-to-be like me in the antenatal ward. They shared their stories of being pregnant and told me not to be afraid. Hmm... not to be afraid? Well, I try but how not to???

As the due date is drawing nearer, I am waiting in anticipation and in fear too. But my hubby kept reassuring me that when the time comes, I won't remember the fear anymore as we'll be holding our little baby and all those pain will disappear. Easy for him to say. But I do hope that everything will go smoothly. Praying everyday!

I salute to all mothers in this world especially my mother and mother-in-law! The sacrifices they made for us, nothing can compare to it.

Mixed feelings

Oh gosh! However, some really idiotic drivers tend to either ignore or they are completely blind to notice that there is a BIG gate right where they are parking their car.

This nonsense has happened many times. My sister even tried to put the orange cone (those you find when they are doing roadworks) just at the entrance of my gate only to find it being kicked away later. What a nuinsance these people are!!! I wonder how do they feel if someone parks right in front of their gate. ISH!

Have some common sense people. It's people's front gate. Of course the resident of the home would want to go in and out of their home right??? so, DUH!!!!

Youngsters! Giving me headaches!!!

Are youngsters today more ignorant than when we were their age? I feel that youngsters nowadays hate it when being told or reminded too many times. I mean, I too went through that phase in my life but somehow we still respect the elders and do as we are told, though not willingly. But this is not the case of youngsters now.

For instance, my own younger siblings. Me, being the elder sister tends to nag at them. Yes, I do agree I sound annoying sometimes but hey, it's for their own good. But when I repeat my request once too many times, I get the annoying look from them or sometimes a deaf ear. It's as if I'm talking to the wall!!! This only angers me more and makes me continue with my nagging. Gosh. Feels like I'm an old grandma now.

But do they know, we worried bout them. Worry that something might happen to them especially if they go out late at night? Society these days are not safe. Unlike those times when we were younger. But do they think of us being worried bout them??? No! They only think we are annoying and trying to stop them from doing things that they like.

Just disappoints me so much to see my younger siblings like this. Coming from an average family, my parents would of course love the help they could get around the house. I asked them why didn't they ask the help of the younger ones, their only reply was , "It's better to do it ourselves. Don't want to bother them." This reply angers me and saddens me at the same time.
Don't get me wrong. My siblings are good kids just that they don't know how to appreciate family yet. They are not young anymore but somehow maybe because they got a better life than when I was younger thus making them taking everything for granted.

My only hope is that they will learn to appreciate people and things around them especially our parents for they won't be here very long with us. One day, they will have to move on and leave us to fend for ourselves. By then, it would be too late to even say sorry to them.

Sigh. What can I do to change them? Any ideas?

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://monkeycivilisation.blogspot.com/2011/09/youngsters-giving-me-headaches.html' title='Youngsters! Defying their every requests and going against them was my nature. But that changed ever since I was away from home for more than 3 years. The first I realised that my parents are getting older when 2 years ago when I invited them to have a long holiday in UK. It was just 1 year that I didn't see them but upon seeing them, I really think they have grown so much older.

Over the course of 3 years away from home, I do admit that it's fault on my part that I did not call home as often as I should. There always seems to be reason for me to not call home but most times, I really did forget being so busy and so tired afterwards.

Now, after 3 years away, I'm home, though not for a long time but long enough to really see that my parents have grown even older. One day looking at them and thinking to myself , how much longer they gonna be here with me made me burst out crying. My husband was dumbfounded as to what happened and he only held me tight till my outburst was over. He is someone who loves his family and treasures them so he understands how I feel. Though sometimes I might be talking loudly to my parents, but deep down it's because I care and want the best for them just like they want the best for us.

I also wonder to myself, now that I'm on my way to becoming a mother, how would it feel when your child shouts at you? Would you think that they don't care bout you? Would you feel that your love and care showered on them have gone to waste?

I guess not. Parents will always be parents. No matter how much they feel hurt by our actions, they never fail to protect us and give us the best. But what do we, as children do? Continue to hurt them and sometimes ignore them not realising they are the reason we are in this world till it's all too late.

So,love your parents now. Don't wait till it's too late to show your filial and love to them. I know I don't show them enough love but I'm trying to compensate for that now.

I love my parents. :-)

It's been a year

Wow! It's been a year since my last entry. Been pretty busy and tied up with many many things. Among others, getting married and now having a baby.
Just felt like penning down my thoughts about my journey to motherhood. I'm not yet a mother. Just on the way. As of now, I'm 7.5months pregnant. I didn't imagine myself getting pregnant, let alone becoming a mother. It came as a surprise but it was a pleasant surprise. Though at first, there were some uncertainties bout having the baby. But now, everything turned out fine.

First, was the worry of how are we gonna raise the baby. Things are just started to fall into place with my new life in Mongolia. And there were also thoughts of leaving Mongolia to further studies. All these were put on hold with the 'surprise'. But my hubby and myself are sure that everything will turn out just fine and that baby is a blessing and a gift.

So, 7.5months now, I'm still walking like my normal speed , in fact sometimes running which I'll get many lectures from many people.kekeke. I'm still getting used to being pregnant that sometimes, I do forget that I am and I tend to bend down suddenly to pick something up till I felt the tummy being squashed! How silly of me.

Baby has started to move alot and kicking some. But she has been really gentle on me from the time she was conceived till now. Oopppsss.... I gave away baby's gender. Yes, it's a girl! And I am really happy!!. She didn't give me much problem, no morning sickness, no vomitting. Just some preference for food that I used to avoid i.e Milk! But so far so good!

I love to feel her moving around cos it makes me giggle and my hubby will be laughing at me for being so silly. well, I'm carrying a baby. So, I can giggle as silly as I want to be as long as I'm happy. Don't you all agree?? =)

Country home with family

Went to country home to visit Eej (Mummy) and Aaw (Daddy) 2 Sundays ago. Its cheap, its fast and its buses are frequent. At 300Tugrug, you can go from one end of the city to the other (if the bus is on the route).

Bus might be packed with people like sardines and the driver drives like a F1 driver. Reminds me of the time when we used to have minibuses. hehe.
However, one thing I noticed is that young people will give their seats to older ones. Though not all of them does it but at least there is sense of respect in them to give their seats to the elderly. Sometimes, the elderly will request that they want your seat.

I guess this is one wonderful habit that they have. :)

Happy Women and children's Day 1.6.10

It was Children's Day on 1.6.10 and it was a public holiday here in Mongolia. Big events were lined up at Sukhbataar Square and at other places too. Traffic was so bad that day that it took me 1 hour to get home. Well, it was fun though seeing all the kids with their toys, and laughing happily albeit the scorching sun and heat.
During my bus trip home, I though I witnessed a sandstorm! Wind was blowing strongly and as the roads and walkways are dusty, the wind brings up all the dust and makes visibility low. I thought I was in the desert!
hehe.
Anyway, it was a nice day as well.

Ramen Noodles soup anyone?

Today is my third attempt to cook ramen noodles soup. Baagii and myself invited our friends over, Sainaa, Aagii and baby Anand for lunch. It was not that difficult to cook and in fact, it was kind of fun.
The first time I cooked it, I was nervous as I was cooking for the whole family and was afraid that Eej and Aaw won't like it. The wind, the dust, the traffic jam, the cold, the food and above all, my Mongolia family.

Its a warm home to be in as Eej (Mummy) is always making sure I eat, eat, and eat. hehehe.
And Aaw (Daddy) always make sure I am kept warm when I go out. He will check my socks and make sure my coat is good enough to withstand the cold.

Now that it's Spring, its very windy and dusty. And why isit that they don't follow the traffic regulations?

This is what I got from him:
Mongolians used to be nomadic. They travel by horses most times and they make the rules as they go. They go wherever they want to go and whenever they want to go. Since there were no proper roads back then, they were the king of the roads or pathways or whatever they call it. With modernization and more traffic, they still used to ride like that only now, with a car. They are impatient and wouldn't give way to other vehicles. Thus, the 3 lanes for 5 cars.

The honking here is endless and is especially worse with the buses. They will swerve left and right and with a busload full of people. Reminds me of the time we had our mini-buses. It was scary the first time I took the bus but now I got used to it.

I still remember too when back in Malaysia, people will rush to get onto the bus but for the past few year, I think people are starting to get in-line which I saw at the LRT station. It is a good practice and I am really happy that Malaysians are becoming more civilised.

The first time I took a bus here in Mongolia, I was nearly left out of the bus because I was not fast enough to get on it. I noticed, people here push their way through to get on regardless if there are people getting down from it. I observe and now, I too have learned the way of getting onto a bus. Its not that I am not courteous but if I let other people push me, I wouldn't be able to get on the bus. Becoming like a Mongolian now??? Maybe... hehehe

Never ending winter in Mongolia

According to locals, this year's winter is the most harsh and longest winter they have ever experienced. Over millions of live-stock perished in this freezing weather. As most of the country-side people survive on selling the beef and mutton to the market, they are the hardest hit. And because of that, price of red meat has risen over the winter.

Although its nearly end of May now, its still chilly at times. You may get sunny and hot day in the day time and then come evening, its cold and these days , rain too. Not very good for people like me as I fall sick easily with the change of weather and thus now, my nose is blocked on one side, I am losing my voice and basically coughing my lungs out.

I really wish the summer will come quicker but by time it really comes, its autumn...

dang!!!!

Culture shock in Mongolia

First impression of Mongolia, So cold! The mountains were still covered in snow when I arrived.

Second, I was like on a bumpy ride on the way home. The roads were all pot holes and uneven surface. Maybe its because of the snow. It made the roads like that but I don't know for sure. So, there I was bouncing my way home on the 4WD. hahaha. luckily I didn't throw up!

Third, traffic is really bad here and I thought Malaysian drivers are crazy, here, its 10times worse! When I tell people that I am coming here, their first reaction was, WHY MONGOLIA???? Its freaking cold there.
Well, it was really cold when I first got here. It was somewhere around -13deg but its also much better compared to 3weeks before that when it was -30deg!!!!

I was greeted by my bb and his friends at the airport. The airport is really a very small one though its considered an International Airport. In comparison to Beijing Airport, its much smaller and very basic. I had to transit twice before I reach Ulaanbaatar. The first was at London then it was at Beijing. In both the airports, I was like doing a marathon because the gates where I was suppose to go are at the far end of the terminal. Having to carry one luggage and a heavy loaded handbag, I felt like I was carrying my whole house! hahahaha

The journey to Mongolia was pleasant though I didn't get much sleep. Partly, I was worried bout my things as I was travelling alone. Secondly, I guess I was too excited. :P

I was tired and a little jet-lagged but upon seeing my bb at the exit gate, all weariness dissappeared. I am so so happy to see him after being apart for 1 year. It was a torturous 1 year but we managed to pull through the time and distance and finally be together again.

After the greetings, hugs and kisses, we were on our way home for a scrumptious meal prepared by bb's mom(Eej) and sister(Egch). Nervous as I was to meet my new family, I was more overjoyed to be finally with my bb again...

Leaving on a jet plane... Its almost time for me to leave UK. I am heavy hearted to go but I have my constraints and I do have another destination to head to. Sometimes, how I wish all that I wish for will go my way. But life doesn't happen that way, do they?

When I look back at the 2 years I spent here, I am really glad I took this journey. I found someone I really really want to spend my life with albeit he is from a foreign country. But somehow I felt I connect with him and that's where my next adventure is taking me to. Alot are at stake but I am willing to take the risk. You never try, you never know.

In the 2years I am in UK, I have learnt to value my family and to spend more wisely. Not that I managed to save alot but at least I managed to fulfill some of my dreams. Some may call me silly for leaving my job in Msia to come to UK and be a waitress. Though waitressing does not need much of thinking to do but its a job that requires attention and speed.
You need to be attentive to your customers, you have to be fast in clearing the tables, you have to know what to do if customers are unhappy, you need to make sure there are no mistakes in their food and the list goes on and on.
I am very grateful that in the course that I've been a waitress, I've made friends with some customers. I feel appreciated when they say thank you and they really meant it.

A lovely couple gave me a farewell gift the other day. Nearly made me cry as I can feel tears welling in my eyes. I was too lost for words just thank you. Other regulars customers too commented that they wish I won't go and that if there is anything they can do to help me stay back. But I guess, my journey in UK is coming to an end and when its time to leave, I just had to go.

But, fear not. I am going to my babe. Been separated for almost 1 year now. I can't wait to go to him.

Keeping my fingers crossed that I will update this blog diligently!!!!

Chinese Restaurant

I am currently working in a chinese restaurant. My new home or actually my new room. Shifted into this room on 9/7/09. I am living with my colleague now. Amanda has shifted over to Enid's place where its nearer to her work place.

The place I am staying in now is very near to Liverpool University. Though its bit far from city centre, I am quite pleased with my room though the building itself is very run-down. Nevertheless, I have unpacked most of my stuff and now its more cosy though still messy. Its so much cheaper to stay here as well compared to my previous place.

I miss Apartment 16 still. Home to us and to countless visitors, I am surely gonna miss this house. It may be a pigsty at times, but its our cosy pigsty. Much joy and laughter in this home of ours which we name 'House of Half Pride' (though I think this has gonna change now. :P). Much tears has fallen as well in this home of ours.
I would love to continue staying here but its too costly.
I am moving to a new place , a much further place from town as well as cheaper. I don't mind that as long as I can save some money.

One of the best memories of Apartment 16 was when mummy and daddy came. There were a total of 7 of us in the apartment!!! You must wonder how an apartment so small can fit 7 people!!! Besides Mummy and Daddy, Chee Fai came as well, 3times. Jancy, Kai Li, Hong Hin, Chuen Ding, CK, Zhen Weng and his friends, Tommy bunked in for a few days, countless parties here not forgetting the number of vomitting in this house!

So much of memories we leave behind in this home. One of them is I found Baagii. I didn't imagine I could like him let alone fall in love with him. It has been nice when he stayed over for a few days here. Felt like our home for a moment. Very nice.

I am gonna remember everything that happened in this house. The house that has been home to me for the past 1 year. Apart than that, it was windy and rained through out. I felt cold most of the time that I have to wear a jacket whenever I go out.

This year, the sun decided it wants to come out and play. Glorious sunshine for a few weeks already. Nice! Though a little too hot and dry for me even. Kekeke... What have I gained in that 1 year I am here? Let's see. I learnt how to be more independent, do house chores and keeping the house clean, some customer service skills and I found someone as well though I lost another one.

All in all, I gained quite a lot. Some life experiences that I didn't think will come true. Happy times, sad times, painful times. I must say, its worth it. I like being in the UK. I know I can't stay here long. But at least I got a taste of it, of living abroad on my own, earning money to sustain myself and taking care of myself. Somehow this experience made me appreciate money more and to be thrifty. I am still quite a big spender but I think twice or maybe thrice before I spend my money.

I'm not sure how long more I am gonna stay in the UK or when I am going back to Malaysia as I have some other plans going on as well. A plan that I must see through and that must materialize.

Keeping my fingers crossed and praying hard that it will!!!

Missing my parents...

Its been a month now that parents has gone back to Malaysia. How time flies when you are enjoying yourself. Looking back at the past 2.5months, it has been very happy indeed and well spent. Having not seen my parents for the past 1 year, I just realised how much they mean to me and how much I miss them. Being able to bring them to Europe is like a dream come true for me. But of course, I need to thank Chee Fai for helping me out.If without him, I wouldn't be able to support 3 of us for the whole trip.

Being away from them for a whole year, I noticed they have both aged. They have grown older and gets tired easily. I was so worried that any of them would get sick but luckily they are very strong. Only some knee problem from my dadddy. Other than that, they are really strong like bulls! Even better than me. Aiksss.... I am getting older myself! :P

When it was time for them to go, I felt so lost. When mummy and daddy were here, they would take care of me and Amanda, making sure we are well fed. Mummy cooked for us everyday. I really miss her cooking now. And I miss their nagging.

Mummy and I cried at the check-in gate. I am gonna miss them so much. Daddy looked back a few times and I kept waving to them. Till I can't see them anymore. I felt so lost again. I already miss them. So so much. When I got back home, the feeling of emptiness was even greater. The house is so quiet without their laughter and chatter. I just cried myself to sleep that night.

I wonder, will I get the chance to bring them to Europe again? I am keeping my fingers crossed that they would be able to enjoy their life now after slavering most of their life for us. As children, my siblings and myself has been trying to give them a better life. Its the most we can do to repay back all that they have done for us.

I love u, Mummy and Daddy. I miss you all lots!

Daddy n Mummy to UK!!! 25.3.09

Yayyyy!!! Nasi lemak and Bak kut teh coming!!!! kakaka... Finally, I get to eat the food I've been craving for lately! Imagine a group of 8 people (all above 50yrs old!!!) coming to UK! Haha. Enid, Amanda, Leong and myself rented 1 car and 1 van to Stansted Airport, London to pick up the entourage.
It was fun driving a big big van (9seater). First time in our lives, we drove such a huge car!!! Amanda and myself took turns to drive it and sang our hearts out to CDs all the way there. (Just to keep ourselves awake!) Still had time to pose for the camera as well. Hahahaha
We arrived at Stansted quarter to 4 and waited excitedly for them at the arrival gate. Tick, tock, tick tock... Where are they??? No where to be seen. Haiyo! Aunties walk too slow laaaaa...
Hahaha! We were all quite tired already and nearly fell asleep waiting for them. Luckily there were occassional jokes when we commented on people coming out of the gate. Kekeke.

After about almost 1hr wait, we finally see them. We kept quiet when we saw my mom. Wanted to test them if they can see us. My mom actually looked right at me and walked away! My goodness! My own mom can't recognise me!!! Alamak! Luckily my dad still can recognise me. But you could never imagine the throngs of people (especially Spaniards!) who walked into the restaurant to have a meal before the games start. My shift on this horrendous day started at 10am. I was suppose to go home at 3pm for a 3hours break. But I didn't manage to go home because the girls who took over my shift are considered new girls and there are only 2 of them to serve about 40 customers!!!

Dawn asked to me stay and I agreed. We were all working like mad. Taking food orders, drinks orders, run to the bar to prepare the drinks and make sure the food are ready in the kitchen before sending them out. My goodness!

I've never been so tired working in Sapporo before. By the end of the night, I couldn't feel my legs anymore and i basically had to drag my feet home. After a good shower and a cup of hot Milo, I felt so much better.

What a day!!!

Stay??? GO????

This is the question that keeps playing in my mind for the past 2 months. Time flies. With a blink of an eye, I've been in the UK for 10 months already. I'm gonna leave Sapporo in April and go traveling after that. My problem now is, I wanna stay here longer because my visa only expires in March 2010 but I need another job if I want to stay. Job is hard to come by now. If I can't find a job, I can't sustain myself and I'll need to go home.
Hmmm... Not a bad idea to go back. Missed home as well but I just feel I still want to see more, explore more.
Been pondering day and night, what shall I do? Shall I stay? Will I be able to find another job? Will I be able to sustain myself??? Getting the headaches just thinking bout this question. From the looks of it, its very likely I'll be going back to Malaysia by July latest.

Haizzz.... Stay???? It has been really cold here. Maybe that's why I am falling sick. Haizz...

As if the surrounding is not cold enough, the heater at the restaurant has broken down. We had to work in a freezer and there is no where else that we can go and hide from the cold. Most of my colleagues are falling sick as well. These few days has been better in the restaurant. Think they fixed the heating system. FINALLY!!! But it is still not warm enough. Imagine having customers complaining that it is too cold and they had to put on their jackets when it is cold. But we had to endure the cold in our short sleeves uniform. Hmmm... No wonder we are falling sick!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2009!

It's a new year. So, I should have a new year resolution right??? WRONG!!! Haha! I haven't thought of any since I don't know when and I don't think I will start this year. Even if I do, don't think I will b able to follow it through. Hehe. I am just so bad at that.

2008 was a year to remember indeed. First time being away from home for so long and so far! Thinking of 2008, there were lots of beautiful memories made. With family, loved ones and friends. Thanks to them for making it so memorable.

As years pass, and as I am getting older, I learn that family and friends are very important in my life. Without them, who am I. I also learn life is unpredictable. Who knows what fate brings you and how it twists your life. But I am thankful that so far, life has been good. There are ups and downs of course. But as I grow older, I learn to embrace it bravely and not forgetting to mention with some guidance and support of loved ones and friends.

Here is wishing everyone a Happy New Year!!!!

Pssttt! Merry Christmas!!! Keke! I know this post came a bit late. Been busy partying! Haha!

This is the first time I celebrate Xmas away from home, from family and friends. Luckily, I have a great bunch of friends here and that made the celebration special as well. Had a simple pot-luck party at Goh's house. The simple pot-luck was not simple at all as we were all stuffed with all the variety of food prepared. We even had the same thing for dinner on boxing day!!! LOL!Look at the amount of food!!!

It was nice though. A small group of youngsters, all away from home to celebrate together. Takes away the missing home feeling. We sang, drank and sang and drank the night away. We had a kara-ok singing competition on the PS3. Though Jorge was hogging the mic all the time, he still lost most of the time. Kaka!!! It was an unusually cold night n suddenly at midnite around 2am, small freckles of snow fell. At first, I thought it was raining but when I looked properly, it was actually snow. Being so excited, Amanda and myself ran downstairs equipped with my camera to record it down.

It was not really easy to catch it on video because the flakes were too small. But after an hour, the flakes became bigger and more visible. Both Amanda and myself were really excited and happy to witness it. We told our friends about it which many of them just shrug it off saying we are MAD!!! Hehe.

Anyway, forecast says its gonna snow again maybe on Monday or Tuesday. How much can you get from doing such hurt to others? I always believe, what goes around, come around. To bring one up takes so much effort, but it definitely does not take much to bring one down.

We live in a world where we confront people everyday. Is it so easy to forget that we can't live alone on this planet? We may look independent but the truth is, no one can survive alone. We need friends, we need loved ones, we need someone we can talk to when we are happy or when we are sad.

For me, I treasure all my friends and loved ones. They are the ones that kept me going. They are the ones I run to when I have happy news to share with. They are the ones I go to when I need a sympathetic ear or a shoulder to cry on. That's why they are very important to me.

No doubt, there would be some that I don't really fancy so I try not to have so much in common with them. It's to avoid any conflict or hearing anything that I would not like to or being forced to participate in any discussion that may hurt my friends.

I always tell myself, by bringing others down to make yourself look good or feel good, won't bring you far. One day, just one day, the same thing will come around and hit you. It will hit you hard and you will fall hard. That's called, Karma.

My puppy, Moka

My dog,Bobo just gave birth to 3 puppies 2 weeks ago. Unfortunately, 2 of them died and now left this one who we named Moka. He is one fat puppy and always feeding on mummy. Furry little thing with huge eyes like daddy, Richie. Wish I am home to cuddle this small fella. I love my furry friends because they are a real good companion. They know if you are sad, they know if you need company, and they share the joy when we are happy.

I remembered around 2yrs ago, Bobo was pregnant but she had a difficult pregnancy because she had uterus infection. When the babies were due, she couldn't even lick the pouch enveloping the puppies away. I had to help her deliver the puppies. I was so worried that I cried the whole night. Usually after giving birth, she would go out and do her business and look for food and water. But this time, she just laid still there. I couldn't take it and sent her to an animal hospital crying all the way there. She had to be hospitalized for a week before discharged. She gave birth to 7 puppies that time but unfortunately, none of them survived. I cried when one died and burying them.

Imagine how worried I was when my brother told me Bobo is pregnant. I do not want history to repeat itself and worst part is I'm not there! I was overjoyed when I heard Bobo gave birth to 3 pups but my joy was shorlived when I was told one of them died the next day followed by another 2 days later. I called home n tell my mom to go get some milk powder for pups from the pet shop fearing that the pups might have died because Bobo does not have enough milk.

As day goes by. I was praying that the puppy would survive and be healthy. I asked my brother to update my regularly on the progress, which he did diligently. My bro told me, he is a very fierce pup. If you disturb him during sucking, he will make noise. Oh, how adorable.
And now 2 weeks later, he finally opened his eyes. OOOO... I really wish I am there!!! To cuddle the fella and hold him in my arms.
                                                                   Moka with Mummy

I bugged my bro and sis to send me more pics of him. But before falling asleep, still managed to take picture. Hehe. So vain la.
Can you see Amanda behind us?? Hehe

Finally reach London at approx 11.45am. Got stuck in a slight traffic jam but luckily not as bad as those we experience in KL. Got off at Victoria Coach Station and made our way to Victoria Train Station. We decided to drop our bags off at the hotel before meeting my friend, CK.

The train station has many levels. We had to take escalator a few levels down to get to our platform. However, directions are very clear as to which line you should go to get to your destination. I am very impressed by the clarity of information but standing at the platform, I can feel the dust n dirt all stick to my face. New pimples are to appear for sure. Haizz... At Victoria Station

We stopped at Euston Station to get to our hotel. Had a hard time looking for it. Wasted about 0.5hrs to find the hotel. And not to mention the amount of walk we did that afternoon. Finally, a handsome young man showed us the correct way to the hotel. The hotel that we stayed in, Mentone Hotel is quite a nice B&B hotel. Costing about £30/night, it is considered ok. Taken inside our hotel room

After dropping our stuffs, we made our way to Leicester Square to meet up with CK. He then brought us to China Town which was nearby. Walked around China Town for a bit and posed for a few pictures, of course. In my opinion, London's China Town is bigger than Liverpool's. There are lots of shops and I even saw pao! Was craving for it so I bought 2pcs. But what a great disappointment. It tasted horrible. The paste doesn't taste like red bean and the dough is too hard. Not nice at all. Wasted my $. Posing at China Town gate

With Amanda n CK in China Town

After that we made our way to Trafalgar Square. Trafalgar Square is a site of significant historic value and its monuments and statues also have individual heritage classifications. Since its construction in the early 1800s, Trafalgar Square has been seen as a centre of national democracy and protest. Rallies and demonstrations are frequently held at weekends on a range of political, religious and general issues. With its position in the heart of London, it is a popular tourist attraction; its trademarks are Nelson's Column, which stands in the centre, the four lion statues that guard the Column, and the large number of pigeons that live in the square. On the north side of the square is the National Gallery. Nelson's Column

Behind us is the National Gallery

I climbed onto one of the four lions guarding Nelson's Column

Having climbed the lion and taking loads of pictures, we made our way to the iconic London Eye. Halo! Wei Wei Wei

After walking for what seems like forever, I finally saw the big round round wheel. The famous London Eye! A brief history of London Eye.

Since opening in March 2000 The London Eye has become an iconic landmark and a symbol of modern Britain. The London Eye is the UK’s most popular paid for visitor attraction, visited by over 3.5 million people a year. A breathtaking feat of design and engineering, passengers in the London Eye's capsules can see up to 40 kilometres in all directions.
These are some simple facts about London Eye that I found online.
A TEAM EFFORT

It took seven years and the skills of hundreds of people from five countries to make the London Eye a reality

A VIEW FIT FOR A QUEEN

You can see around 40KM (25 miles) from the top as far as Windsor Castle on a clear day

FLYING HIGH

The London Eye welcomes an average of 3.5 million customers every year. You would need 6,680 fully booked British Airways Boeing 747-400 jumbo jets to move that number of fliers!

DING! DING!

The London Eye can carry 800 passengers per revolution - equivalent to 11 London red doubled-decker buses

HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION

Each of the 32 capsules weighs 10 tonnes. Well, anyway, how could I not take a picture of the famed London Eye?? So we of course posed for a few pictures. Smile!!!

                                                                                London Eye

After crossing River Thames via Hungerford Bridge to get to the other side, we were greeted by a pair of silver couple. Are they real? I wonder. Suddenly the man moved. Wah lau. Scary but interesting. It was a Sunday and according to CK, there are a lot of street performers. Took pictures of a few of them (without paying of course) and just strolled along.

                                                                           Street performers 1

                                                                Street performer 2

                                                                      Street performer 3

Initially Amanda and myself would like to visit Madame Tussauds and there is a package ticket that include a ride in London Eye costing £35. But we also wanted to watch Phantom of the Opera and in the end, we chose Phantom of the Opera. We just spent our time taking pictures along River Thames. We walked till we reach Westminster Bridge and wondered if we should cross it to Big Ben and Westminster Abbey. Our feet told us to do other wise.

You see, Hungerford Bridge and Westminster Bridge sort of like run parallel. So, if we were to cross Westminster Bridge, we are gonna be back to Victoria Embankment where we started. Finally, I decided I just want to walk half the bridge just to take a picture of Big Ben. My legs are too tired already having walked the whole day.

Posing in front of Big Ben

Our next destination after London Eye and Big Ben is to find food!!! All of us are starving already. We walked back to China Town to have our meal. Nothing special bout the food but at least filling.

After meal, we walked to our last destination, Piccadilly Circus for a few more rounds of photos. The Piccadilly Circus boast the neon billboard that is similar to Japan's. Piccadilly Circus is famous road junction of London's West End and is close to major shopping and entertainment locations. There is a fountain called Shaftesbury in memorial of Anthony Ashley Cooper, 7th Earl of Shaftesbury for his philanthropic works. At the fountain also stood the statue of an archer popularly known as Eros (sometimes called The Angel of Christian Charity , but intended to be Anteros).

Posing at Piccadilly Circus wit Dar

                                                                     Big Neon boards

Well, that's the end of my first day tour of London. This time is to York, some 1.5hrs drive away from Liverpool. Enid thought it would be good to drive up there for a day trip. The 1.5hrs drive was quite interesting. Pretty flowers in the fields by the hiway, beautiful scenery all around. Really peaceful till I fell asleep. Wakaka!

First stop, Clifford's Tower. Didn't climb the tower as I have to pay entrance fee of £3. Haha. Kedekut ma. Anyway, some introduction about Clifford's Tower. Clifford's Tower stands as a proud symbol of the power of England's medieval kings. Originally built by William the Conqueror to subdue the rebels of the north, it was twice burned to the ground, before being rebuilt by Henry III in the 13th century. The tower takes its name from one grisly incident in its long history, when Roger de Clifford was executed for treason against Edward II and hanged in chains from the tower walls. At Clifford's Tower

We then walked around. There was a market that somewhat looks like pasar pagi where clothes, food, accessories and even paintings are sold. Didn't buy anything there though so we continued walking around.

One thing I like it here in UK is that, there are really alot of dog lovers. And most of them bring their pets out for walk. Managed to get permission to pose with a few of them. Really lovely.

We had a very interesting lunch at Betty's. Its a very traditional English restaurant where they serve superb English tea and variety of cakes. Yummy! Really delicious. The presentation itself is interesting enough.

Finger sandwich, Sultana scones, cakes, cakes and cakes. OOOOoooo... Enid lead us to an alley where the shops all looked lopsided. This is The Shambles ler, she said. Shambles (also known as 'The Shambles') is a bustling centre piece of historic York. The way that fifteenth century buildings lean into the middle of the cobbled street means that the roofs almost touch in the middle. Mentioned in the Domesday book (making it date over 900 years), we know Shambles to be York 's oldest street, and Europe's best preserved Medieval street. This place is really interesting as you can get many cute stuff here. There are so many shops here selling souveniers, clothes, antiques, jewelleries to name a few. I even found one shop with my name. Keke. Didn't know I have business there. If it is really mine, wah! Kaya lor! Dreaming ler... My shop ler!!!

Reality check, reality check. Ok. Back to my sightseeing. Our next famous stop is the York Minster. Even from far, I can see the tower and even from far, it is beautiful. Enid told us to strike a pose in front of the building. The building is really huge and very fascinating. Again, we didn't enter the cathedral as we have to pay entrance fee of £7.50. Amanda n Me at York Minster

There was also a statue of Constantine the Great at the entrance. Amanda and I decided to imitate the statue. Hehe. Really 38 of us neh. 2 Constantine, the Great Wannabes!

After York Minster, we went to the park. We bought some bread to feed the pigeons and squirrel. Amanda went screaming away when the pigeons came too near and nauti Enid kept throwing bread crumbs around Amanda's feet so Amanda was practically screaming away. It was a really funny sight and I laughed till tearing. Enid wanted to enter York Dungeon but unfortunately, it was closed by time we got there. However, I still managed to pose at the entrance. Enid asked me last week and I went, Huh?? Lunch?? Are you nuts? So hot! Well, that's the first reaction I gave her because in Malaysia, who in the world have BBQ for lunch? Haha. Anyway, I agreed to go along. This BBQ thingy is just to have fun together with Sapporo colleagues.

So we set off at 12.30pm though the agreed meeting time was 11am! Malaysian time. Kaka. Anyway, we head to Chester for Wirral Park. But we got lost for almost an hour or so. When we finally found the place, all of us were starving already because some didn't have their breakfast. Luckily I had a cup of oat n wholemeal bread before I left. Kaka..
But thanks to our chef, Somchai, we managed to fill our stomach with yummy fried rice. Yum Yum.

The park is a beautiful place. Serene and cooling though
the sun was shining bright n hot!
It has a cliff that overlooks the beach. There are greens and greens everywhere. Amanda and I managed to pose abit for the camera. Hehe. They are really, really cute. May Yan invited the parents to join our party while we, the aunties, were busy playing nannies. They are really adorable and not forgetting energetic too. Well, most years, my sis and I would bring the whole family out for a good meal. But this year, I am far from home. All I could do was call home to say Happy Mother's Day to mummy. Well, find it kinda awkward to have to wish my mummy. Maybe all these years, I have taken her for granted. And now that I am so far, I miss her and her food and not to forget her nags alot. Hehe.

Most times we only treasure things after we lost them. Most times we take people around us for granted and only start to regret when they are gone. No matter how we tell ourselves to cherish family, friends or people around us, we being humans, either chose to forget or ignorant to do just that.

I've lost 2 person in my life so far.One is my brother when I was very young and another is my paternal grandma during my first year uni. The feeling of losing someone is really horrible and told myself to really cherish all those around me.

So this blog is to my mummy and my grandma, may her soul rest in peace.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!!!

2 weeks in Liverpool

Its been 2 weeks lor since I arrived in Liverpool. What is so interesting about it?
Hmmm... I've never worked as a waitress before, I've never worked in a restaurant before (well, my mom's stall does not count yah) and I can't speak Japanese. So, what is so interesting?

I know! Being able to say, "Excuse me sir, menu. Excuse me ma'am, menu." Huh. After you say this a few time, you would have got bored of it. Well, that's part of my duty. Put the napkin across their lap and give them the menu. Then its laying out the saucer plates and then wait for them to order. But that's not my job yet cos I am still not familiar with the menu list and operating the hand till.

It was not really a busy day because it was a weekday. So there was not much running around.

There are times when I just stand there and think of my family. Is really a very sad feeling to be so far away from them. And thinking, back in Malaysia, I was the one enjoying the meal. But here, I have to do the serving. Haizz...

Anyway, after end of my first day, I can't feel my feet anymore. It was sore and I just can't wait to go home. 4hrs of standing and walking seemed short but when I was told I can go, I am more than happy. I just want to go home, take a hot shower and have a warm cup of oatmeal. And that is just what I did.

Well, nothing eventful on my first day. Didn't break any plates or glasses. Phew!!!
Oh yah, Liverpool player, Fabio Aurelio, came to the restaurant on my 3rd day here. Hehe.

Liverpool Here I aM!!!

Brrr!!! Cold!Cold! Those were the words I manage to utter upon arrival of Manchester Airport. It was so cold, I my teeth were practically chatt...chatte...chatteringgg away. We had to walk quite some distance to the custom and walk we did. The queue was very long as only 1 counter was opened and I thought to myself, I am now in a foreign land. I am now considered a foreigner. How sad.My friends then wanted to puff. Kesian. 7hrs can't smoke. When we transit at Abu Dhabi, the first thing they did was look for the smoking room. Kesian me. Have to wait for them. Haha.
As UK now practice no smoking indoors policy, we had to go outside of the terminal to smoke. And I of course had to go along as I do not want to be alone. Stepped out the terminal and I nearly froze at the entrance. It was really really really cold! It was drizzling and wind was blowing. Gosh! I know I'm gonna fall sick already. Haizzz...
Being the vain us, even cold also want to take pictures. So we posed a bit and smile a bit for the camera. Do we look like we are freezing? Guess not. Managed to keep ourselves warm with some hot chocolate costing 2 pounds 1pence. WAH! That's RM 13.13 leh. Ouch! That's painful but what to do. Had to drink something warm.So there we sat, sipping our hot chocolate while waiting for my friends to come pick us up. In those moments, I start to miss my family and friends. It was just yesterday when I said bye bye to them and now, I am half the globe away from them. Gotta be strong, I told myself. Else how am I to survive 2years here. And so, strong I had to be.
Finally, my friends, Enid & Dawn arrived to pick up these 3 'parcels' (that's us). We packed our luggage into Enid's car and followed Dawn to take a train to Liverpool. We took a transit bus from Manchester Airport to Piccaddilly Station to board the train. When we arrived at Piccaddilly station, the train was about to depart and the platform is at the other end of the station. And so, we had a marathon. Wow! I really salute their transportation system. On-time really means ON-TIME! Don't play play.
Ok. Back to the marathon. We ran and ran as fast as we can. But alas, the train has abandoned us. So we had to wait for about half hour for the next train. While waiting for the train, I had time to ponder again (too free ler). What a way to welcome me. First the rain, then the run. Wow.Gonna remember that for life too. After checking in into Enid's Inn and got ourselves refreshed, we head out for lunch and took a walk about the city centre. Environment here is really clean and the air is really fresh so the walk was good though it was freezing cold!
After lunch, Enid brought us around for a half day tour. Even though we were physically tired, we did not feel it because of the excitement of being in a new place. TO keep us awake, Enid fed us 1 can of Red Bull each. It managed to keep me awake till 12am local time (meaning 7am Malaysia time). Wah! Super Woman! Can survive for so long! It was so cold, I went to bed with 3 shirts and 2 socks!. But upon laying my head on the pillow, I think of my family and friends again. Cried abit but in all the tiredness of jet-lag and running and walking and cold, I managed to fall asleep.
Good nite darling. A new chapter of your life has just begun.

Leaving on a Jet Plane 26.4.08

26.4.08 seem to come too soon. Its time for me to say goodbye to my family and friends here in Malaysia. Making the decision to go UK and leave everything behind was not an easy one. Gave it alot of thoughts and after evaluating the pros and cons, I decided to give it a go.

Started preparing for this trip since end September. Frankly speaking, this trip would not have materialised if I do not have travelling partners. Well, lucky for me, I got 2 of them. So this dream of mine finally became a reality.

Submitted the visa application in December and when I went to collect my results, my hands were practically shaking. Couldn't bear to see what was the result, excitement and fear at the same time. Well, all ends well it seems.

Fast forward 3months later, I am flying off ler. Can't believe it myself either. 3mnths just seemed to zoom past me. I have no time to stop and think what I've been doing so far. Has everything been prepared? Did I leave out anything?? None at all. Just follow with the flow I guess.

I've been crying alot before I leave. I have never been away from home for so long and so far! The furthest that I stay out was staying in campus during Uni. Even that, I go home every weekend. This is a totally different experience for me. Not sure if I am ready for it but told myself, this is the path that I have chosen. Die Die oso have to do!

Mummy cooked plenty of nice food for me. Food that I'm gonna miss for sure. Had a good meal and then it was off to the airport. Sending me off was hard for my elder sister as well as we exchanged words that we usually don't. Though we bicker alot, but I guess blood runs thicker than water. I will keep her advise close to heart.

The scene at the airport was a joyful one. Many of my friends came to send me off. Many thanks to them. Really feel warm to have friends like them. To all my friends, really gonna miss all the gossiping sessions and laughing sessions. Thanks for sending me off yah.

After alot of goodbyes and tears (HeHe, I didnt flood KLIA. Phew!), I finally made my way to the gate. I couldn't bear to look back as tears are already pouring down my cheeks. I can only go forward and forward and forward.

It is indeed a day for me to remember for life.

A new chapter of my life begins...
